Feliway disappointment…

This post proves there are no miracle cures, but it's also important to note the "why?" of the symptoms, too.
It seems that Feliway hasn't been the magical cure I was hoping for. Not necessarily to say anything against it, but I think Freya is just weeing, not spraying. So far it seems only in the one place, which just happens to be in the ...
An important thing to remember also is that Feliway is for behavioral or stress related problems, not ALL problems. For example, as was suggested in the post, Freya seems extremely picky about the litter box. Some cats don't mind it being fairly messy, and others will turn their little noses up at the thought of standing on a clump or seeing a wet spot. It's very important in multiple cat households to have at least 1 litter box per cat, and also a good idea to have several litter boxes if you have a bigger house. A concern for aging cats might be getting up and down stairs when the need strikes, so having at least one on each level of the house is a good idea. You may not be able to keep it spotlessly clean, but do your best. I most certainly recall the pecking order of our 3 cat household, where the oldest boy would get the honor of first use of any freshly cleaned litter box.
It should also be mentioned that inappropriate urination can also result from UTIs, or Urinary Tract Infections, which is a potentially fatal condition for cats. If your cat is having trouble going to the litter box, you might need to take a trip to the vet to make sure everything is ok. The problem may not be stress-related at all. See Common Cat Health Care Problems for more detail.
